SYLVESTER -- The funeral services for the late Mrs. Charlie Mae Walker Floyd of Ashburn, Georgia, who departed this life on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 2150 Rosewood Road, Decatur, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 12:00 noon from the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia with the pastor, Reverend Tommy Washington, officiating. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia.
On March 28, 1915, in Molena, Pike County, Georgia, Charlie Mae Walker Floyd was the first born of ten children to the union of the late Mr. and Mrs. Shelton and Julia Means Walker. She received her elementary education in the Turner County Public School System and continued her education at Gillespie Selden Institute in Cordele, Georgia. She accepted Jesus Christ as Lord, and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in 1934. She was a faithful member, serving on several ministries during her life. She was a missionary, usher and served as Church Mother for many years. At her demise, Mrs. Floyd was the oldest member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Annie L. Jones of Decatur, GA, Yvonne Loette Fletcher of Douglas, GA, Velma (Douglas) Mitchell of Leesburg, GA, and Shirley (Eddie) Bateman of Ashburn, GA; a son, Clemon (Dorothy) Floyd, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; twenty-five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Ethel Duncan & Augusta Inel Graham of Chicago, Illinois, and Lou Bertha Wadley of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
