CAMILLA -- Roy Sangster, 79, of Camilla, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24 at Southside Baptist Church with interment in Pinecrest Memory Gardens with military honors. Rev. Neal Hager and Rev. Alton Harper will officiate. Pallbearers include Jonathan Sangster, Jeremy Sangster, Vernon Nobles, Douglas Nobles, Lucas Allen, David Forrester, and Brooks Rucker.
Born January 7, 1933 in Norman Park, GA, Mr. Sangster was the son of the late Mose Sangster and Lucille Wright Sangster. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Mr. Sangster was owner and operator of Camilla Loan Company. He was a member of Camilla Lions Club, having received the Lion of the year award. He was also a former Camilla City Councilman and former member of Pinecrest Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Reniece Sangster of Camilla; one daughter, Lisa Forrester of Albany; two sons, Tommy R. Sangster and wife, Pamela, of Baconton and Len Sangster of Dallas, TX; one brother, Jack Sangster and wife, Donna, of Thomasville; eight grandchildren, Jason McRainey, Brandy Sangster, April Nobles, Lindsey Allen, Jonathan Sangster, Nicole Forrester, Brittany Forrester, and Jeremy Sangster and seven great grandchildren, Douglas Nobles, Carrie Nobles, Macy Rivenbark, Abby Nobles, Mio McRainey, Hayden Allen, and Mirei McRainey; his mother-in-law, Eulalah Gardner; his sister-in-law, Brenda Conard; and his loving pets, PJ and Sunshine.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, March 23 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.
