ALBANY -- Residents interested in state government affairs will want to attend the Ward I town hall meeting this morning to hear state Sen. Freddie Powell Sims, D-Dawson, said Albany City Commissioner Jon Howard.
"She will be here to give us a rundown on the legislation pending," Howard said, "and how it relates to us."
Sims, whose 12th Senate District includes all of Dougherty County, was elected to the Legislature in 2008. She serves as secretary of the Retirement Committee and is a member of the Public Safety, Education and Youth and Natural Resources and Environment committees.
Her district currently includes Baker, Calhoun, Clay, Dougherty, Randolph, Terrell and Quitman counties and a portion of Mitchell County.
The meeting is set for 10 a.m. today at the East Albany Community Center, 1721 E. Oglethorpe Blvd.
