ALBANY, Ga. -- The Albany Police Department is looking for a man thought to be involved in an aggravated assault that took place on North Monroe Street over the weekend.

Officials with the APD say that Condell Benyard, 34, is wanted in connection to an incident that occurred at 410 N. Monroe St. at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Reports indicate that the victim, 39-year-old Arthur White, told officers that the suspect came to his home unannounced and upset. The two began to argue.

At some point, Benyard reportedly pulled out a box cutter and cut White underneath his right arm and across the back.

Benyard then left the scene, APD officials say. White was transported to a local hospital. As of early Monday evening, no arrests had been made in connection to the case.

There were also at least two other aggravated assaults reported over the weekend. One, which reportedly involved a person being cut while getting robbed, took place at 400 W. Tift Ave. at 10 p.m. Saturday. Nothing further was available on that incident as of 6 p.m. Monday.

The other aggravated assault took place at 1409 Palmyra Road, No.19, at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. At the time of that incident, APD officials say Kenneth Wise, 42, and Phyllis Edwards, 45, were in the process of ending their relationship.

The account given by the APD says that Wise was coming to Edwards' apartment, his former residence, when she fired a handgun at him through the door.

Officials say Wise sustained minor injuries from the shattered glass. Edwards was arrested and taken to the Dougherty County Jail.
