ALBANY, Ga. -- Two men who attempted to rob an automated teller machine on Meredyth Drive over the weekend have been arrested.
Reports also indicate that the men had marijuana on them.
Evan Johnson, 29, and Josh Johnson, 32, reportedly tried to break into an ATM at Flint Community Bank at 2910 Meredyth Drive at 2:29 a.m. Sunday.
Officers with the Albany Police Department responded to the bank in reference to an alarm coming from the ATM. Upon the officers' arrival, APD officials say they heard loud banging noises and asked for more units to respond. The officers observed two white males, wearing camouflage, attempting to get inside the machine.
The suspects reportedly heard police sirens responding to the location and immediately fled on foot into the tree line around the Princeton Place and Pinnacle West apartment complexes located on North Westover Boulevard. Officers gave chase and were able to locate both suspects.
The pair was transported to the Albany Law Enforcement Center in downtown Albany, where they were interviewed by a burglary unit detective.
The men were charged with burglary and possession of marijuana, indicating the drug was found on them at the time they were apprehended.
It was not clear Monday evening how much marijuana was found on the suspects at the time.
