CAMILLA — Tyler Classon (2-0) threw five innings of shutout, two-hit baseball to lead Westwood to a 13-0 win against Valwood on Monday.
Douglas Nobles, Caleb Morrell and Kaleb Bentley all had two hits for the Wildcats, who improved to 8-1 overall.
Westwood plays again today at Sherwood.
DWS 7, CRISP 1: Deerfield-Windsor made the most of just five hits Monday against Crisp Academy, scoring three runs in the second, two in the third and two in the fifth.
Crisp’s only run came from a solo home run by Jordan Howard in the fourth inning.
Lindsey Short won his first game on the mound this season and allowed no hits in three innings of work.
At the plate for Deerfield, Johnny Croley was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI, and David Hines was 1-for-2 with three runs and a double.
The Knights (8-2) play again today at Calvary Christian in Columbus.
Soccer
ALBANY — The Deerfield girls improved to 10-1-1 Monday with a 7-1 victory against Tattnall Square, while the Deerfield boys (9-3) lost to TSA, 1-0.
Scoring for the girls were Mackenzie Davis and Candace Cosby with two goals each and Haley Kincheloe, Casey Kincheloe and Cheyenne Colvin with one goal apiece.
The boys aren’t in action again until April 10, while the Lady Knights play Thursday against Southland at Darton College.
Tennis
ALBANY — The Deerfield boys and girls tennis teams both beat region foe Westfield on Monday, 4-1.
Winners for the Lady Knights (10-0, 7-0) were Joyner Tyson (No. 1 singles), Caroline Holley (No. 3 singles), Lucy Kelley/Hope Kitchen (No. 1 doubles) and Amy Rao/Ansley Arrington (No. 2 doubles).
Winners for the DWS boys (9-1, 6-1) were Nasser Rizvi (No. 1 singles), Pete Langstaff (No. 2 singles), Reid Wright/Robert Newsome (No. 1 doubles) and Will Calhoun/Tyler Lowe (No. 2 doubles).
Deerfield wraps up its regular season Thursday against Southland.
