QUITMAN — A Southwest Georgia middle school student will be in attendance next January when the president is sworn in.
Eighth-grader Kyanna Jackson has been selected to attend the inauguration of the president and vice president on Jan. 19-23 in Washington, D.C., She was selected through the High School Presidential Inaugural Conference.
Kyana, an alumna of the National Young Leaders State Conference, nominated last year while she was in the seventh grade. The Presidential Inaugural Conference is a program that occurs every four years in conjunction with the Inauguration of the President and Vice President.
"When I nominated Kyanna based upon maturity, academic excellence and leadership potential, I knew this conference would be a great opportunity for her. I have had the pleasure of being Kyanna's reading teacher for the past three years and am very proud that she is being honored for her participation and success in the Junior National Youth Leaders Conference," Brooks County Middle School seventh-grade language arts teacher Kristie Calhoun said.

Good for her. I hope she gets a good view from that crowd and I hope she gets to shake President Romney's hand after the ceremony.
