ALBANY Albany police are searching for a 19-year-old Albany man in connection with a Tuesday evening shooting that sent another man to the hospital.
Police say Quintavis Mathis is wanted in reference to the 8:32 p.m. Tuesday shooting at 1900 block of Riverview Circle, where Darryl Morris, 32, was injured and taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Mathis is described by Albany police as an African-American, 5-foot-5 and weighing about 133 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. APD officials say he may be armed and should not be approached.
Morris told police he pulled over at the location. Two men, he said, approached his Jeep Liberty and attempted to rob him. Morris drove off, but he told police several shots were fired at his vehicle and he was struck once in the leg. As he fled from the shooting, police said, Morris SUV hit a tree off Blaylock near the Dougherty County Jail. His injury does not appear to be life threatening at this time, APD says.
Anyone with information on Mathis is asked to contact the Albany Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
