Religion Bulletin for March 31, 2012




Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday school this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.


Porterfield United Methodist Church: George Mathison, senior minister at Auburn United Methodist Church in Auburn, Ala., will be guest speaker during Holy Week services Monday through Wednesday at Porterfield.

Services will be from noon to 12:30 p.m. followed by a light lunch in the fellowship hall.

Porterfield’s Holy Thursday service will be at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary following fellowship supper at 5:30 p.m.

Good Friday service will be at noon in the sanctuary followed by lunch in the fellowship hall.

Mathison is the former chaplain of the Auburn University football team.

Mathison’s topics will include “Come Before Winter” on Monday, “Lenten Keys” on Tuesday and “The Message of the Cross” on Wednesday.

First Christian Church will present “Salome’s Roof,” a Maundy Thursday play about the time between the crucifixion and the resurrection, at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, 416 N. Westover Blvd.

Sherwood Baptist Church will have a Good Friday Service at 6 p.m. Friday.

The service will include music from the Sherwood Choir and Orchestra, narration by Alex Kendrick and Communion.

Calvary Baptist Church will observe Easter Sunrise Services at 7 a.m. on April 8.

The church is located at 1211 13th Ave. in Albany.


New Mount Holder Baptist Church will conduct its youth revival from April 11 to April 13 at 7:30 p.m. each date.

Evangelist will be Apostle Wayne O. Grant, pastor of Spirit of Truth Prayer and Intercession Ministries Inc. in Leesburg.

A gospel music concert is planned at 7 p.m. on April 7 at Maule Lakeside Hanger at Spence Field in Moultrie.

Performing will be Seeds of Faith of Moultrie and The Palmers of Albany.
