Funeral practitioners to convene in Albany

ALBANY, Ga. — The Georgia Funeral Service practitioners Association will conduct its 87th annual convention May 13-16 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Albany.

James Griffin of Poteat Funeral Home in Albany said about 300 people are expected to attend the local conference. The group held its annual meeting in Albany about 20 years ago, Griffin said.

An awards banquet is planned at 7 p.m. May 16 at the Albany Civic Center, where GFSPA will recognize several award winners and scholarship recipients. The group will recognize its Humanitarian of the year. Also, Michael Fowler of Albany will be honored as state Mortician of the Year.
