Shots fired, armed robbery among weekend crimes

ALBANY -- Interference with city officers during the course of a crime investigation and an armed robbery were among the crimes put on the Albany Police Department's caseload over the weekend, reports indicate.

On the 300 block of Slater King Drive, roughly a block away from the Mt. Zion Garden Apartments, officers responded at around 10 p.m. Sunday in reference to shots being fired in the area. Officials say the complainant reported that a black male had fired shots in their direction from a vehicle resembling a black Monte Carlo.

Authorities further stated that two women began arguing with other witnesses after being told by police to leave the area. The two women, Serika Stephens, 24, and Angela Michele Fletcher, 26, were cited for interference with a city officer.

As of Monday evening, no arrests had been made in connection with the shots that were fired, police officials said.

The armed robbery took place on the 300 block of North Valencia Drive a little bit before 8 a.m. on Saturday, according to reports.

In that case, the victim -- identified by the APD as Shundricka Gibson -- reported that when she went to take the trash out, she was approached by a black male who demanded money. The male reportedly had a pocketknife as a weapon, and after the victim gave him some cash, he cut her lip and hit her in the face.

Gibson was treated in the emergency room at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and released, authorities said.
