Student-athletes undergoing annual health screenings

ALBANY, Ga. — Student-athletes living in Dougherty and Worth counties will have their annual health screenings done this week, officials with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital say.

On Thursday, Phoebe Physical Medicine and Phoebe Orthopaedic Specialty Group, along with Dr. Mark Benton of Phoebe Worth Family Medicine, will host an annual athletic screening event for both Worth County Middle School and Worth County High School athletes.

The screening will be held from 5 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. at Worth County Middle School, located at 1305 N. Isabella St. Last year, more than 300 students attended, according to officials.

On Saturday, Phoebe Physical Medicine is hosting a similar event for students at Albany Middle School, Dougherty International Education Middle School, Radium Springs Middle Magnet School of the Arts, Robert A. Cross Middle Magnet School and Southside Middle School, as well as Westover and Dougherty high schools.

Those screenings will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Phoebe Northwest, located at 2336 Dawson Road. Last year, more than 700 students were screened, officials say.
