Letter carriers to collect food

ALBANY, Ga. — The U.S. Postal Service will team with its letter carriers on Saturday to conduct its annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

Letter carriers in Albany and across Southwest Georgia will collect food donations left at the mailboxes Saturday and deliver them to food banks and other hunger relief organizations.

Residents are asked to leave a bag of nonperishable food where the letter carrier normally delivers the mail on Saturday. The food should be left before normal mail delivery time.

Examples of nonperishable items include canned soup, canned meats and fish, canned vegetables, fruits and juices, boxed goods such as cereal, pasta and rice.
