ALBANY -- Officials with the Georgia Department of Labor have chosen Jacquelyn Allen-Polites of Albany, a disabled veteran outreach program representative in the GDOL Albany Career Center, as DVOP Representative of the Year for 2011.
Allen-Polites won the award at the 69th annual conference of the Georgia Chapter of the International Association of Workforce Professionals held recently in Savannah.
IAWP is a professional association for members who work in public and private work force development programs. The award is given annually to a DVOP representative who is thought to have done the most to assist disabled veterans and to promote interest in veterans' rights in the work place, officials say.
Allen-Polites was nominated for the award by Sharon Warren, a supervisor in the career center, which serves Calhoun, Dougherty, Lee and Terrell counties.
