ALBANY, Ga. — Three 20-somethings from a violent family face their first court appearance in Albany after a crime spree that took the siblings from Florida through Valdosta to Colorado, where they were captured.

Brothers Ryan Edward Dougherty, 22, Dylan Stanley-Dougherty, 26, and their 27-year-old sister Lee Grace Dougherty, dubbed the “Dougherty Gang,” are scheduled by extradition to be in court Tuesday, according to an email from federal authorities.

All three face bank robbery and discharging, using and carrying a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence charges, the indictment stated. Ryan Dougherty also faces a possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charge, it added.

According to the indictment, the Florida residents stopped in Valdosta Aug. 2, 2011 to rob $5,200 from the CertusBank. Authorities said the fugitives shot at a police officer in Zephyrhills, Fla., and fled at high speeds to Valdosta.

The trio packed an AK-47 pistol rifle, a semi-automatic machine pistol and a Mauser .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun, the indictment stated.

The Huffington Post reported that “witnesses say two men and a woman, dressed in black and wearing masks, entered a Valdosta bank Aug. 2 and fired shots into the ceiling. One carried an assault rifle and an automatic pistol, similar to weapons recovered after the siblings’ capture.”

After the trio robbed the bank, they headed west, according to earlier reports. Attempting to eventually escape to Mexico, they made it to Colorado, where they were captured Aug. 10 after their car rolled over during a high-speed chase.

A Colorado officer shot Lee Grace Dougherty in the knee after she pointed a gun at an officer, previous reports stated. Dylan Stanley-Dougherty fired an assault rifle at officers.

The Associated Press reported that in Colorado Ryan Dougherty was sentenced to 18 years in prison after a guilty plea to five counts menacing. Lee Grace Dougherty was sentenced to 24 years, and Dylan Stanley-Dougherty was given 32 years.

Florida authorities have reported that the trio face an assortment of charges, including attempted second-degree murder when they are extradited to their jurisdiction.

Reportedly, the Lacoochee, Fla., residents all had criminal records before their August spree. Ryan Dougherty was required to register as a sex offender for sending sexually explicit text messages to an 11-year-old girl.
