BAINBRIDGE -- An impaneled jury found Wayne Anthony Davis guilty last week of kidnapping, aggravated assault and failure to register as a sex offender, officials with the South Georgia Judicial Circuit say.
The case was impaneled and tried by District Attorney Joseph K. Mulholland. Officials say Davis was sentenced to serve life on the kidnapping charge, 20 years to serve concurrently on the aggravated assault charge and 30 years to serve consecutively on the failure to register as a sex offender charge by Chief Judge Wallace A. Cato.
Prosecutors say Davis kidnapped and assaulted Lisa Carol Amos on May 2, 2011 at her residence in Decatur County with a baseball bat. Davis reportedly bound and gagged Amos and placed her in the trunk of his vehicle and traveled to Liberty County, Fla.
From there, Brian Bateman, a deputy with the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, apprehended Davis while Amos was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for medical attention, officials say.
