ALBANY — Call it the neighbors to the rescue caper.
Residents of the Fernridge Drive area saw a burglary in progress and took down the tag number of the getaway vehicle at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to Albany Police Department reports.
Three males entered an apartment at 3206 Fernridge Drive and stole three flat-screen televisions, a Wii electronic game system, an Xbox 360, clothes and shoes, stated the report. The witnesses gave officers descriptions of the the suspects, the report added.
Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman, said that after a brief foot chase three juveniles and an adult were caught and the stolen items returned to the victim.
Warrants for burglary are being issued for two 15-year-old boys, a 16-year-old boy and 19-year-old Rafael Cabral, the getaway driver, Banks added.
Police Chief John A. Proctor said, "I encourage citizens to continue to report any and all suspicious activity in their neighborhoods."
