CAMILLA -- Thomas Preston Peel, 89, of Camilla, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Plantation Manor in Thomasville.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Camilla with interment in Pinecrest Memory Gardens with military honors. Rev. Harris Malcolm and Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate.
Born October 18, 1922 in Randolph County, Mr. Peel was the son of the late Shelly and Exie Bell Wilkerson Peel. He was married to the late Faye Rackley Peel and was preceded in death by two brothers, Hansel Peel and Shelly Peel and a sister, Ara Lee Webster. Mr. Peel was a graduate of Cairo High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in Europe in World War II. He attended the University of Georgia, where he received a degree in Agricultural Engineering. Mr. Peel spent his entire working career at Mitchell EMC in Camilla. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Camilla, where he served as a deacon and brotherhood treasurer for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Beth Gilliard and husband, Ron, of Bainbridge and Lynn Roy and husband, Brian, of Hiawassee; a granddaughter, Allison Harrell and husband, Bill; a great grandson, William Harrell; a granddaughter, Courtney Roy; one sister, Doris Myrick of Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, Daniel Peel of Houston, TX.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.
