The Carter Family. The Bellamy Brothers. The Judds. Country music has a long tradition of family groups and duos. And the newest family to try their luck on Music Row will visit Wild Adventures Theme Park near Valdosta Saturday evening.
The Band Perry, a trio of twenty-something siblings Kimberly, Neil and Reid Perry, are blazing up the charts. In less than three years, the group has collected two top 20 hits, one song that hit No. 2, and two No. 1 hits, including the hugely successful “If I Die Young.” The song became a top 5 crossover hit.
Band members say that music is in their blood and there was no escaping the journey they were on.
“Daddy rocked us to sleep with the Rolling Stones; Mama woke us up with Loretta Lynn. So we get it honest,” says Kimberly Perry in a statement.
“There’s a tightness between the three of us that goes way beyond even best friends,” Neil Perry added. “Family vocal harmonies can’t be fabricated. And, besides — the three of us know that through the thick and thin of life and the music business, we’re watching after each other.”
After touring with artists Tim McGraw and Keith Urban, The Band Perry is bringing its unique harmonies and musical talent to South Georgia. Wild Adventures Theme Park will welcome the group to their pavilion stage at 8 p.m. Saturday.
General concert seating is included with a 2012 Wild Adventures Season Pass or park admission. Reserved seats are an additional cost to park admission and are on sale now. For more information, visit www.wildadventures.com

Caitlin from Leesburg, Ga., another rising star from SW Ga was opening act at Wild Adventures before The Band Perry. Guess the Albany Herald missed that part of the story.
