Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday School this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.

EVENTS

First Southern Methodist Church will celebrate the birthday of its oldest member Sunday when Freda Cochran turns 103. Cochran is a founding member of the church which startd about 40 years ago. The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey D. Spicer, the church pastor, said Cochran will be honored during the Sunday morning worship service. The church will also host a dinner in her honor Sunday.

The Rev. H.C. Boyd, pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, is celebrating his 65 years of ministry, including the past 53 years at Shiloh. His daughter, Delores A. McCrary, is hosting a celebration for him at her home in Conyers Monday. The event is not open to the public.

Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church in Ashburn will host a 4 Gospel Writers program at 6 p.m. today. Guest ministers participating include Elder Tony Davis of Waycross, Bishop Tremaine O. Alford Sr. of Ashburn, Pastor Marvin Cuffie of Ashburn and Pastor Donnie Ray Hall of Vienna. The church is located at 742 S. Lee St.

Greater Pines Missionary Baptist Church will host a Memorial Day program at 11:15 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. James C. Bush will bring the message. The church is located at 1203 S. Jefferson St.

Mt. Olive Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will celebrate homecoming at 11:30 a.m. Sunday followed by a revival Monday through Wednesday with services at 7 p.m. each day. The Rev. Bobby E. Dailey will bring the homecoming message.

On Monday, the Rev. Jerome Pace will be the evangelist for the revival. He is pastor of First Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Newton.

Tuesday’s speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Wadis Williams, pastor of Thankful Missionary Baptist Church in Newton.

Wednesday’s speaker will be the Rev. Mack Booker, pastor of Notchaway CME Church in Newton. The church is located at 110 Hokessmith Drive in Newton.
