PELHAM -- Mrs. Ouida Joyce Rackley Davis, 95, of Pelham, Georgia passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Camilla Retirement Village in Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. graveside at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. James Cain will officiate the services. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Jamerson Funeral Home in Pelham, Georgia.
Born on December 29, 1916 in Mitchell County, Georgia to the late Vassar Edwin "Pet" and Jane Elizabeth "Babe" Palmer Rackley, she was a retired beautician and owner of Joyce's Beauty Shop in Pelham, Georgia. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was married to the late Harold Davis.
She is survived by her nephews, Joe Doby, Jr. of Harlem, Georgia, Vassar E. Rackley, III of Marshallville, Georgia, Thomas C. Rackley of Ft. Valley, Georgia; a niece, Jane R. Simpson of Ft. Valley, Georgia, special friend and neighbor, Joyce Hurst; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Davis; parents, Vassar Edwin and Jane Elizabeth Palmer Rackley, sisters, Eurice Holton, Marjorie Byrne, Wilma Bahooshian, Chloe Drummond, and Clista A. Rackley; brother, Vassar E. Rackley, Jr.; and niece, Chloe Little.
