Squawk of the Day - May 29, 2012

Just because an event is held at the Civic Center does not mean the tone should all be celebrated in the same manner. Whoop and holler at a basketball game, hold up signs for your favorite performer at a concert if you like, but show a little decorum at a graduation. Know the difference.

So the earth is a dumber place now because the squawker said people should know the difference about how to act at a graduation vs a basketball game etc. ?

VSU... D_K was responding to a comment which has been removed. WHile it had no effect on anyone's intelligence, it did put the commenter's credibility into question.

Duane Kelley was responding to another post that was a genuine embarrassment to humankind and was removed.

Enlighten me...what part of Shinedownfan's post would her mama read that she would not be proud of? Am I missing something here?

Its not the fans who need to know the difference. (because fans will be fans.) Its the Civic Center management who needs to know the difference when it comes to enforcing the rules.

No, the fans need to know to show respect and considerations at graduations, but technically as I mentioned one time before, all signs from all events should be banned because it is a distraction when you are trying to enjoy an event and you cannot enjoy an event with a sign waved in your face. It's bad enough when people stand up and you can't see, but then yhou have those annoying signs.

Many events ban signs for liability protection. It is a written rule, and is enforced. All this due to a fan getting their eye severly damaged by another fan exuberantly waving a sign. The sign waver didn't have much to sue for, but the Stadium and team did.
