Police investigate Flash Foods robbery

ALBANY -- Officials with the Dougherty County Police Department are looking into a possible armed robbery that took place at a Flash Foods on the Liberty Expressway early Tuesday.

Sgt. Chad Kirkpatrick, a detective with the DCPD, said the incident unfolded at 2:45 a.m. at the store located at 2336 Liberty Expressway.

"The suspect said he was armed and demanded money from the clerk," Kirkpatrick said. "He took an undetermined amount of cash and fled the scene."

The suspect was described as a black male about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a purple T-shirt, black pants, white shoes and a black bandanna over his face, Kirkpatrick said. It was unclear what the man's approximate age was.

Nobody was injured during the course of the incident. It is not immediately clear whether the suspect was actually armed.

Kirkpatrick said authorities have received information on the case and are actively pursuing leads. Those with information regarding the incident are encouraged to call the DCPD at (229) 430-6600, or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477).
