LEESBURG — Incumbent Lee County Sheriff Reggie Rachals, who is running for re-election in the county’s July 31 Republican primary, will hold a “meet the sheriff” event Saturday.
Rachals, members of his family, a number of his friends and members of the Lee Sheriff’s Office staff will gather at 1209 U.S. Highway 19 South (across from the Lee County Publix) for a few hours of fun, food and fellowship. Members of the public are invited to show their support for the sheriff by attending the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Rachals, who faces the challenge of former LSO deputy David Cheshire in the primary, is completing his first term as sheriff after defeating longtime top lawman Harold Breeden in 2008. Rachals has worked in law enforcement for 31 years.
