ALBANY, Ga. — Westover High School Principal William Chunn presented members of the school’s state championship Literary team with rings Thursday during a “Lunch of Champions” celebration.
“Unfortunately most of the members of the team could not be here today because they are all in college,” Chunn said. “So we will be presenting the rings to their parents.”
Earlier this year, Westover won the AAA state team championship at Veteran’s High School in Kathleen.
The championship marked the first literary team title in school history. Senior Max Moye claimed an individual state title after receiving a perfect score in the Boys Essay.
“This feat is outstanding. To win a state championship is the culmination of hard work, talent and execution,” Chunn said. “I congratulate our coaches, Mrs. (Polly) Stadnik, Mrs. (Selena) Bentley and our team on a job well done. Our team defeated some of the state’s best private schools, magnet schools and public schools to win the championship.”
Team members include Katie Donnan, Chris Massey, Alex Donnan, Chelsea Basley, Marlene Gordon, Shemia Patterson, Austin Moody, Dustin Tilley, William Childs, Meera Kuntawala, Ellen Roberts, Ebonee Jones, Kensley Fields and Moye.
