ALBANY, Ga. — These are the top ten headlines for the week of Oct. 26-through Nov. 2.
1. Turner teacher suspended in student slapping incident
ALBANY, Ga. — An administrative panel on Tuesday issued a 30-day suspension without pay for Turner Elementary teacher Tracy Drayton after she slapped a kindergarten student at the school.
NEW YORK — New York City awakened Tuesday to a flooded subway system, shuttered financial markets and hundreds of thousands of people without power a day after a wall of seawater and high winds slammed into the city, destroying buildings and flooding tunnels.
ALBANY, Ga. — Lane Price and Lorenzo Heard squared off in their only debate Thursday night at Albany State University, and both Dougherty County School System School Board at-large candidates seemed to score points with undecided voters.
4. Former Lamar Reese Magnet Elementary teacher charged with child molestation
ALBANY, Ga. — Former Dougherty County 2012 Teacher of the Year Candidate Phillip Burns has been charged with child molestation and felony sodomy and is currently being held without bond at the Dougherty County jail.
5. Squawk of the Day - Oct. 29, 2012
"People who leave a gun in their car and leave it unlocked should be charged with a crime."
6. WEEK 9 Player of the Week poll
The Week 9 player of the week was Worth County High School freshman running back Zytavious Anderson. Other nominees were Albany High's Emanuel Byrd, Dougherty High's Michael Whately and Westover's Dalviness Greene.

ATHENS, Ga. — Police say a newborn infant was stabbed to death in an Athens house, hours after being born.
