ALBANY, Ga. — Because hazardous materials travel through communities every day, at least 39 first responders signed up for training in responses to rail-car incidents involving hazardous materials at the Albany Civic Center today.
Emergency responders from Crisp, Sumter, Thomas, Worth and Lee counties join Dougherty emergency personnel at the Albany-Dougherty Emergency Management Agency, said Jim Vaught, agency assistant director.
The training is designed to prepare emergency personnel to respond to a freight rail car incident without endangering the health of responders.
