ALBANY, Ga. -- Two men now face trial on rape, assault and weapons charges after a Dougherty County handed down indictments, a court official reported Thursday.
Peacory Ricoddo Mathis, aka Pecor Mathis, was charged with rape, aggravated sexual assault, child molestation and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on August 1, according to the indictment. He was convicted in 2006 of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, it added.
"Peacory Mathis could get a maximum life in prison for the rape of a 13-year-old girl," said Greg Edwards, district attorney. "If he is found guilty he will serve at least 25 years."
Leroy Eugene Taylor Jr., aka Eugene Leroy Taylor Jr., was charged in an unrelated case with rape, burglary, aggravated assault, possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, aggravated stalking and battery on May 11, stated his indictment.
The indictment charges that Taylor stabbed his victim in the neck with a knife, hit her in the face with his hand and shot her in the neck with a BB gun during the offense.
