Armed robbery suspect arrested

ALBANY — Officials with the Albany Police Department announced Monday that an arrest had been made in connection with three robberies that took place during the course of two months.

About 1:40 p.m. on Monday, officials say, a Crime Stoppers tip came in through dispatch regarding the whereabouts of 21-year-old Joshua Jackson, a suspect most recently wanted for an armed robbery of the Subway on South Slappey Boulevard in September.

The tip indicated that Jackson was in an apartment on Swift Street. Officers with the APD were dispatched to the location, and Jackson was taken into custody without incident, police officials say.

Warrants for armed robbery and aggravated assault were issued against Jackson in connection with the Subway robbery, which took place at 9:26 p.m. on Sept. 20. During the robbery, Jackson reportedly fired two or more shots inside the business while demanding money from the cash registers before fleeing the scene on foot.

Jackson also had outstanding warrants issued from the Dougherty County Police Department. He was featured in Albany Crime Stoppers’ Most Wanted on Aug. 24 in connection with robberies at the Fast Lane Food Mart on July 28 and the Pitt Stop on Aug. 11.

Jackson was wanted for armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes in connection to the incidents at both stores, county police officials told The Albany Herald in August.
