ALBANY -- The Albany Police Department had a busy weekend, with several aggravated assaults and at least one armed robbery taking place, reports show.
An aggravated assault involving a firearm took place at 1:30 a.m. Monday at 1201 Schley Ave., the site of Knights Inn, according to police reports.
The victim in the case was robbed and shot while residing in room 535, police say. The suspects, a black male and female, reportedly entered his room armed with a handgun. An altercation ensued prior to the victim -- Kaywee Hunt, 29 -- sustaining a gunshot wound to his thigh.
Afterward, the two suspects fled the scene separately, police officials say. The male fled on foot, and the female suspect fled the scene in Hunt's 2004 black four-door Mercedes E500 with possible partial tag "PMU." The vehicle had tinted windows.
No physical description was given of the female, and no further description was given on the male. A spokeswoman from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital said Monday afternoon that Hunt was in good condition.
Meanwhile, an armed robbery was reported on the 2200 block of Habersham Road at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.
In that case, the victims were four 16-year old male juveniles and a 19-year old female. They told police they were walking along the road when a silver- or champagne-colored vehicle pulled up and stopped. Two unknown males got out, pointed a gun at them and demanded their money, wallets and cell phones, police said.
The case is ongoing and remains under investigation, police said.
In addition, an aggravated assault was reported at 8:28 p.m. on Saturday at 801 W. Gordon Ave. Officers met the victim, identified as Tadarrion Edwards, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to his left leg.
Edwards could not provide any details, but the case remains an ongoing investigation, police said. A Phoebe spokeswoman said Monday afternoon that Edwards had since been discharged from the hospital.
Also among the weekend's incidents was an aggravated assault that occurred at 4:36 a.m. on Saturday on the 2200 block of South Jackson Street, according to reports.
The victim, a 52-year-old woman, reported that while she and an unknown male were standing in the 2200 block of South Jackson Street, an unknown black male fired several shots in their direction from an open field across the road.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident. Responding officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect. This case was forwarded to the detectives' bureau, APD officials say.
