ALBANY, Ga. — Police officers called out the SWAT team and converged on 2401 Nottingham Way at 9 p.m. Monday in search of weapons, an Albany Police Department report stated.
“SWAT was called out in reference to the search warrant due to weapons,” police Detective Timothy Harvey said. “We continued our investigation and found assault-style weapons and a handgun.”
Officers confiscated the weapons, but no one is in custody while the investigation continues, Harvey said. He declined to give specifics such as the names of the people involved, who had the guns, the apartment residents’ names and the make and caliber of the weapons confiscated, due to the ongoing investigation.
“Charges are pending,” Harvey said, “and arrests are expected.”
A resident called a tip on the weapons violations in to Harvey on his day off, an APD spokeswoman said. After the tip, Harvey started the investigation that led to the apartment and the guns.
No one was injured in the raid.
