Wanted man wrecks car in drunken driving crash

ALBANY, Ga. -- Michael Brown, a 27-year-old man wanted for contempt of court, drove a 2005 Chevrolet Impala south on South Mock Road and lost control of the speeding car Monday night, according to an Albany Police Department report.

The Impala went across lanes of traffic, hit an embankment and a tree, flipped a few times and landed on its roof, the report said. Brown got out of the car and tried to run away, it added.

A Dougherty County Police Department officer caught Brown, who was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, the report said. Brown ran away again and was not admitted to the hospital.

Brown is now wanted on two warrants for drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, reckless driving and other traffic violations as well as a contempt of court warrant, Albany Police Department spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call investigations at (229) 431-3288 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477). The Spanish-speaking APD-COP Tip Line is (229) 434-2677.

Crime Stoppers is an anonymous tipline. People with information could become eligible for cash rewards.

The Albany police should be fast enough to catch a drunk person who has just rolled his car. They must have some serious fitness issues.

I can't speak for all of the police force, but there are some officers that could benefit by shedding a few pounds.

The police personnel that I see in the photos couldn't run 25 yards without stopping.

I'll bet if the Krispy Kreme was closing in 30 seconds they would sprint pretty fast.
