TIFTON -- Bobby Edward Cherry, 60, of Poulan died Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, November 16, 2012, at Faith Community Fellowship in Poulan with the Rev. Kevin Johnson, Mr. John E. Sumner, and the Rev. Roger Cherry officiating. Private burial will be held in the Poulan City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Doug Gray, Wayne Walker, Keith Rich, Charles Thurmond, Tommy Marchman, and Brad Harrellson will serve as pallbearers.
Born January 19, 1952, in Sylvester to the late Cecil Edward Cherry and Geraldine Allen Cherry, Mr. Cherry was also preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Lee Cherry, and one sister, Ann Renew.
Mr. Cherry, a Post Certified Police Officer, had worked with the Albany Police Department, the Worth County Sheriff's Office, the Sylvester Police Department, the Doerun Police Department, and the Dougherty County Police Department. He was a member of the Sylvester Masonic Lodge and he enjoyed fishing, grilling food, playing guitar, and shooting. Mr. Cherry was of the Pentecostal faith.
Mr. Cherry is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Roger and Anna Cherry of Brookfield, B. J. Cherry of Sylvester, and Barrett and Brandy Dilley of Jacksonville, N.C.; his siblings, Dianne and Earl Robinson of Poulan, Pam Golden of Chula, Danny and Sue Cherry of Dublin, and Peggy and William Ussery of Helena; his grandchildren, Will Cherry, Elise Cherry, Samantha Dilley, and Ryan Dilley; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Jesus Feeds Ministry, c/o Brookfield United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 7, Brookfield, Ga. 31727.
