ALBANY -- Carla Raye Route Baker was born June 14, 1953 in Albany, Georgia to the late Carl Louis Route, Sr. and Mamie Clyde Singleton. Carla attended Monroe High School and graduated from Albany Area Vocational School with a seamstress certification. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Carla Raye Route departed this earthly life November 13, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Willie J. Baker; two sons, Brian Route (Tallahassee, FL) and Justin Baker (Warner Robins, GA); a daughter, Ashley Baker (Albany, GA); mother, Mamie C. Whitfield (Leesburg, GA); one aunt, Ophelia Crumbley (Dawson, GA); three brothers, William Harris (Brenda) Atlanta, GA, Carl L. Route, Jr. (Kathy), Stone Mountain, GA, Herman Whitfield (TiaJuana) Albany, GA; Six sisters, Eunice Wesley (Kenneth) Mamaroneck, NY, Janice Route-Blaylock and Brenda Wallace, Albany, GA, Marcia Lynn Whitfield, Atlanta, GA, Jeannette Bowens (Herbert) Albany, GA, and Marva Young Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two granddaughters, Eriel and Lauren Route, Albany, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends mourn this tremendous loss.
The family appreciates those who cared for her during her extended illness. We especially acknowledge and thank Willson Hospice House's staff/personal for the excellent care rendered to Carla Raye.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 12:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church, 325 Whitney Avenue. Interment will follow in the Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
