ALBANY, Ga. -- The Darton State College Concert Band will present its fall concert on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Darton Theatre.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The performance will feature classic works for the symphonic band by famous composers such as Grainger, Brahms, McBeth and Jacob.
Tuesday's performance is the band's first concert under its new music director, Marc F. Boensel, assistant professor of music at Darton.
Boensel, who joined the Darton staff in August of 2012, brings more than 25 years of experience as a conductor, performer and educator, including 22 years of service in U.S. military bands.
Darton State College offers a two-year associate of arts degree in music and a church music certificate. At Darton, classes are structured so that students receive individualized instruction and a firm foundation of musical skills before transferring to a four-year institution.
Darton also offers an online music program exclusively for professional military musicians. The new online program, which began this fall, allows military musicians to study music and earn an associate of music degree at home, on base or even when transferred abroad.
