RICHLAND -- Mary Ivey Fussell Hughes, 84, died Monday, November 19, 2012, at Dawson Health and Rehab, in Dawson, GA.
Mary was born in Webster County GA on February 3, 1928. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, William (Bill) O. Fussell and Mary Frank Stapleton Fussell of the Centerpoint Community; her husband of 53 years, Grady Gilbert Hughes; and one sister, Mattie Fussell Everett Clark.
She is survived by one son, Fussell (Elise) Hughes of Albany, GA and one daughter, Louwycie (Hubert) Patterson of Preston GA, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and one niece and nephew.
Mary graduated from Union High School in Centerpoint and Georgia Southwestern Junior College in Americus, GA. She owned and operated Fussell's Store in the Centerpoint Community. Mary resided in this same area for her entire life. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church and loved serving her church. Mary's hobbies were making tatting and beautiful handmade quilts.
A Graveside Service, with the Reverend Robert Orr officiating, was held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM, at the Macedonia Cemetery in Preston, GA. A Visitation with the family was held at Macedonia Baptist Church immediately following the burial.
