MACON — Nyla Perry scored 32 points, Casey Kincheloe added eight and the Deerfield girls basketball teams opened the season Monday in the Stratford Academy Tip-Off Tournament with a 46-40 win against Flint River.
DWS plays its next game in the tourney today at 1 p.m. against Mt de Sales.
WESTWOOD GIRLS 76, LAKESIDE 50: Rachel Harrell, in her first game since transferring from Grace Christian, scored a game-high 30 points, followed by 19 from Callie SMith and 14 from Morgan Singleton in the opening game of the Terrell Academy Tip-Off Tournament.
Westwood (1-0) next faces Fullington today.
CRISP ACADEMY GIRLS 44, WESTFIELD 36: Madi Mitchell scored 19 points to lead the Lady Wildcats to victory in Monday’s opener of a Stratford Academy Tip-Off Tournament.
Crisp Academy (2-1) led 22-14 at halftime and held on to at least an eight-point lead through the second half. Jay Jay Yawn also added 12 points for the Lady Wildcats, who next play again at 2:30 p.m. today in the tournament against Glennwood (Ala.).
TAE TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT: The Fullington and Terrell Academy girls basketball teams won their openers Monday in the two-day Terrell Academy Tip-Off Tournament.
Parker Rigsby (15 points), Gabi Jackson (14 points) and Alaina McCook (10 points) led Randolph Southern in a 57-54 loss to Fullington.
Terrell Academy routed Tiftarea, 58-35, behind Marilauren Farr’s 21 points and Lauren Barfield’s 12 points.
Today’s tournament games are Westwood vs. Fullington at 4 p.m., Randolph Southern vs. Tiftarea at 5:30 p.m., and Terrell Academy vs. Lakeside at 7 p.m.
