AMERICUS — Georgia Highway Patrol troopers responded to a crash that killed a woman pedestrian on U.S. Highway 280 at about 8:40 p.m. Thursday near Americus, a state patrol spokesman said.
Gwendylon Faye Stevens, 58, died of multiple trauma suffered in the crash, according to Greg Hancock, the Sumter County coroner.
State patrol Sgt. Ed Odom said 17-year-old Taylor Fountain was the driver of the vehicle which struck Stevens near McMath Mill Road. No charges have been filed, but the case remains under investigation.
