1.1. Four indicted in farm loan scheme
ALBANY, Ga. — An indictment issued by a federal grand jury in Macon and obtained this week by The Albany Herald names a family of businessmen and farmers and one local minister in what prosecutors contend is a conspiracy to defraud the Farm Credit Administration of more than $10 million.
2. Albany State student killed in coastal car crash
ALBANY, Ga. — An Albany State University graduate student was fatally injured in a car crash in McIntosh County along the Georgia coast Tuesday evening, according to reports.
3. DCSS board to meet Monday to discuss interim superintendent
ALBANY, Ga. — The Dougherty County School Board will meet Monday morning to discuss possible temporary replacements to step in for Superintendent Joshua Murfree once he leaves Dec. 18.
4. Mother, 81, left in horrid conditions
ALBANY, Ga. — Two brothers left their 81-year-old mother in conditions described at times as abominable, terrible and beyond filthy by Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Craig Dodd.

6. Hostess, the maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread, is going out of business
IRVING, Texas — Hostess Brands Inc. says it's going out of business after striking workers across the country crippled its ability to make its Twinkies, Ding Dongs and other snacks.

10. PSC investigator following up with those in CRCT report
ALBANY, Ga.— The Herald has learned that the Georgia Professional Standards Commission has an investigator in town and is conducting interviews with witnesses, teachers and administrators involved in the Dougherty School System's CRCT cheating investigation.
