Yes, they said on TV that the SEC had the hardest schedule. I remember a time in the 1970's when FSU could not win a game. Could get 50 yard line tickets for $4.00. But they love their team just like UGA.

I am a GT fan and have been for many years. I have to agree that the SEC is by far the best football conference in the land. As a die hard GT fan, I have been through the good, the bad and the ugly, but I am still a fan. There are a lot of GA band wagon fans that went in the closet after the SC game and came out after the FLA game. I call them fair weather fans.

2

VSU 1 year, 4 months ago

Way to go for being a true fan. There is no shame in rooting for your team no matter the outcome. I've been a Georgia fan for years, some good some bad, but regardless they are my team. I know a person who was a Florida fan one year, an Auburn fan, an LSU fan and recently an Alabama fan for the sole reason they were the national champions. I guess this year should Notre Dame or somebody else wins, he will be their new fan. That is not a true fan. I hope the championship stays in the SEC, but there are those that are trying to deny that from happening.

I've been a UGA season ticket holder since the late 60's and I am thrilled by every season and every game because it is so much fun. I have a lot of GT grads in my family and when I was a kid in the 50's & 60's it was hard living around that crowd. Old Dodd thought he was too good to be in the SEC and jumped ship wanting to be like the Irish. Well look at them now. In that rinky dink ACC league where they belong. They've begged a bunch of times to get back in the SEC but just can't make it. Needless to say at family gatherings the GT alum don't talk football and really don't want it to be discussed. I keep bringing it up though. Particularly how old Turkey Throat Johnson is such a genius for introducing his new offensive game of triple option we used decades ago. I love my folks but, brother, I hate Georgia Tech. So Twosons, don't talk to me about UGA fans. You just look at Grant Stadium seats next time they play a team that brings TV coverage and see how many fans are on your side of the field. GT had 8000 tickets to the game at Sanford Stadium and you couldn't sell them & returned a large number. At your home games you don't have enough fans in the stadium to fill a decent sized church for a funeral. In fact, that's about what it looks like and generally has the same tenor. A large number of your students don't attend the games. You got some nerve talking about UGA fans, hell Sanford Stadium is a sell out for every home game played. GT couldn't sell out that sorry Grant field if you were giving away computers. And that's another subject. How on God's green earth could a bunch of engineers come up with a stadium design like that junk you want people to sit in. Albany Tech students could design and build a better facility. To hell with Georgia Tech! 42 to 10, Twosons. 42-10!

I guess we (GT) will have to settle for providing the the best education in the state AGAIN. Oh, as an aside, BOTH GT and FSU have won a National Championship since UGA.

0

VSU 1 year, 4 months ago

What has GT & FSU done lately? UGA has a better record overall that GT or FSU, and didn't UGA just finish whipping GT this past weekend? Wasn't that GT championship a tie with Colorado? Seems I remember one poll having GT #1 and the other poll had Colorado #1. I disputed that since GT beat Nebraska convincingly that year whereas Colorado barely squeaked by their opponent. I felt GT should have been the undisputed #1 team.

Bragging about an educational institution in historically one of the worst states in the nation for education?

1

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

That's why so many of you guys gave certificates in Industrial Management from the North Avenue Trade School. As for the best education in Georgia, no I don't think so. Go east about 7 miles down Ponce de Leon turn left on Clifton Road, going by Fernbank Science Center and Druid Hills Country Club and in 1 mile, voila! you have arrived at my alma mater, where you get the best education the South has to offer - Emory University. Sorry, ole boy. Go fiddle with your slide rule.

0

Effetecorpseofimpudentsnobs 1 year, 4 months ago

Well LeeCo., I'm afraid the good Fryar has you. Your claim of Georgia Tech providing the best education in the state AGAIN is resoundingly FALSE! Emory and Agnes Scott are academically superior to GT and the critics agree. Want to revert to the other discussion about your football team, your stadium and your fan attendance? I didn't think so.

0

Sherwood_Eagle_Alum 1 year, 4 months ago

Tech as well as most of the schools in the ACC are academically superior to UGA and most of the "football schools" in the SEC. We are talking football so I will get back on topic.

How many national titles does FSU have in the last 30 years? How many does UGA have? How many does Tech have?

0

stc1993 1 year, 4 months ago

The UGA stadium is the 15th largest in the world.

0

Effetecorpseofimpudentsnobs 1 year, 4 months ago

Have you paid any attention to the fans that show up in the Grant field stands for GT home games? What do you call those? Most folks call them "no shows."

1

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

Effete, that is a devastating question for the Georgia Thumbsucker. I can hardly wait to read his answer down the line.

0

Sister_Ruby 1 year, 4 months ago

It's ridiculous that GT with a LOSING record in a mediocre conference (including a decisive BUTT Whoopin from MTSU) is playing in the ACC title game!! The thing should just be cancelled this year as meaningless.

Then there's the SEC whose teams beat each other up each and every week and anybody in the top half of either division could beat Notre Dame but due to ND's comparatively weak schedule plus the Catholic media bias will play in the National Championship game. They will be destroyed by Alabama or UGA.

2

USTPC 1 year, 4 months ago

You might want to look at the schedules again. Notre Dame played all Division one teams to go 12-0 and did not play one second tier team. Georgia on the other hand played Buffalo, Florida Atlantic, and Georgia Southern. Alabama played Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, and Western Carolina. Florida played Bowling Green, Louisiana Lafayette, and Jacksonville State. LSU played North Texas, Idaho, and Towson. South Carolina played East Carolina, UAB and Wofford. Need I go on? The point is that three of the wins for every SEC team came against cream puffs while all Notre Dame wins came against Division one teams. Notre Dame deserves their spot in the BCS Championship game.

1

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

What were the rankings of the schools ND played when they played them?

0

Sister_Ruby 1 year, 4 months ago

Some were ranked when ND played them and are no longer ranked. Look at the rankings NOW of all the schools they played. How many are in top 10 NOW? I don't know the exact answer but "not many" is pretty close!

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

Left off the last phrase to the question : " and what are they now?" Regards, Sis.

0

Sister_Ruby 1 year, 4 months ago

I'm not talking about "who played bad teams....I'm talking about who played GOOD teams (top 10 ranked NOW) and who beat them? That's what's most important. As far as playing "Sisters of Mercy" I don't think any D1 BCS contender should play those stupid schools.

2

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

"Sisters of Mercy" - Sis, you are so damned bad.

0

Jimboob 1 year, 4 months ago

That is why they play the games instead of letting the sportswriters decide which team is best. I remember when Alabama should go stright to the AFC playoffs... Then A&M.

0

Sherwood_Eagle_Alum 1 year, 4 months ago

That was a heck of a game. Johnny football is the real deal. Who said A&M wouldn't make it in the big bad SEC?

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

Good work, Sis. I hope its UGA.

0

alleebrin 1 year, 4 months ago

Hey, it ain't about who's good or who's not so good, it's about who brings in the most revenues!

1

stc1993 1 year, 4 months ago

UGA is the 2nd highest revenue producing team in college football.

0

Sherwood_Eagle_Alum 1 year, 4 months ago

I'm gonna have to call BS on this. I need some proof, because I don't think they are the 2nd highest in the SEC.

Bama, LSU, Fla....

Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas...

0

Amazed2 1 year, 4 months ago

Not much happening in the world today apparently if this is the Squawk of the Day

2

VSU 1 year, 4 months ago

And that is a bad thing? Maybe somebody will go on a shooting rampage and brighten up your day. :)

2

RedEric 1 year, 4 months ago

Oh goodness sakes Amazed2 that is dangerous talk in football country. You better get under cover quick as the bricks are probably reaching peak trajectory.

0

Twosons 1 year, 4 months ago

Old Fryer Turk has a serious problem. My, My, let's calm down. We are talking about football, not life. Hate is such a strong word. I respect the SEC and the "real" GA fans. After the SC game I didn't see any window flags like I had prior to the game. Even before the FLA game I didn't see any flags and when they won, I saw them all week. Either be a fan or not, that is all I am saying. I was born in the early 50's and grew up around GA fans, so I had a tough, tough life because I was all alone as a GT fan. (note of sarcasm inserted here)

0

VSU 1 year, 4 months ago

I see that all the time. When New Orleans won the super bowl, suddenly you see people with Saints flags on their cars. Yeah right! Now I don't see any Saints flags riding around.

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

Twosons, you get called out and all of a sudden your sucking your thumb. If you want to criticize fans okay but as they say, "finish the drill." Don't try to wuss out and hide behind a platitude. 42 to 10. Georgia Thumbsucker! 42 to 10. If all you have to brag about is that hack coach and ACC status, well maybe you just better suck your thumb and start talking about the meaning of life. 42 to 10. You guys at the Georgia Thumbsuckers's school on North Avenue had better enjoy discusssing something other that football otherwise your going to have a pretty droll existence. 42 to 10. By the way, UGA began substituting their 3rd string in the 3rd quarter. By the end of the 4th quarter they played everybody but the water boy. 42 to 10. If they had kept the first and second string in the game it would have been 70 to 3 not 42 to 10. I don't blame the Georgia Thumbsuckers for not showing up at the game and I can understand why the students don't attend the Grant Field Extravaganzas. 42 to 10.

2

Twosons 1 year, 4 months ago

Hey Fire Truck, easy now. Breathe deep. You have absolutely gone off the deep end. I said what I said and I certainly stand behind it. There are fans and there are band wagon fans. I am not sure what part of that you did not understand. You must have really been bruised by all those GT fans when you were young to be so offended by me saying what I observed as a fact. You can rant about GT all you want. I stated personal observations, you have stated, well, nothing factual.

0

Effetecorpseofimpudentsnobs 1 year, 4 months ago

Are you claiming that your personal observations are factual? You obviously haven't read the good Fryar's remarks if you believe he has said nothing factual. 42 to 10 sounds convincingly like a fact. GT couldn't sell 8000 tickets to the UGA-GT game, sounds like a fact. Your home game seats are virtually empty, hah another fact. When you say GT is the best education in the State - well that's not a fact but a misinformed opinion. As the Fryar pointed out Emory University has you beat to hell and gone - another fact. And you did start the dust up with your clumsy insinuation about Georgia fans being fairweather fan. The fact is you have nothing factually positive to say about GT football so you attempt some awkwardly sly but not deft comments about UGA. I think the Fryar has you nailed. You are like the small feisty Chihuahua that yaps and yaps until the bigger dogs get in a fight and then you run under the porch. 42 to 10 that's a fact.

0

Twosons 1 year, 4 months ago

Hey effey, the puppet, go look at the original post I made. No where did I say anything about GT being the best education in the State. I stand by my original comments as factual To somehow twist my comments into something more than it is, an observation, is ridiculous . You, effey, need to read for comprehension.

0

Effetecorpseofimpudentsnobs 1 year, 4 months ago

Respond to the substance of the remark. I was only reporting the facts which had been included in the Fryar's remarks and you had denied their presence. You just spout out words with no idea what you are writing. Now go back and address the issues of logic that are clearly presented. And who is losing their cool here?

1

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

What a piercing and lethal response. I am your intellectual devotee. It is the undoing no the denouement of the Georgia Thumbsucker. Your query above and then these remarks. Checkmate would be too subtle description for his demise.

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

Well, Georgia Thumbsucker, I see you just can't get along with anybody. I take a nap and here you are at it again. It will be interesting to read Effete's response. In the mean time, I suggest you read all of my comments then you don't get so fragmented. I am going to enumerate the facts which I have presented above and since you seem to understand that the North Avenue Trade School is not the best education in Georgia, I won't reiterate the relevant facts as it addressed another blogger. But suffice it to say it was a fact that was included and you wrongly denied I did not offer facts but anyone can see they are there except Georgia Thumbsuckers. 1. UGA kicked the butts of all the Georgia Thumbsuckers that showed up between the hedges on Nov. 24. 42-10 ------ FACT 2. The Georgia Thumbsuckers were given 8000 tickets for fans to attend the 11/24/12. There were 3000+ no shows and tickets were returned. ------ FACT 3. UGA fans bought the tickets and filled the house - a complete sell out. ---- FACT 4. UGA began substituting in the 3rd quarter and played every player approved for playing. --------- FACT 5. UGA won 42 to 10 --------- FACT 6. A dweeb writes "As a die hard GT (Georgia Thumbsucker) fan, I have been through the good, the bad and the ugly, but I am still a fan. There are a lot of GA band wagon fans that went in the closet after the SC game and came out after the FLA game. I call them fair weather fans." Now note the use of the words "a lot of GA band wagon fans . . . " This is not a fact but I will tell you some facts about the Georgia Thumbsucker fans. Even most of the students don't attend the GT games. --------- FACT! 7. The Georgia Thumbsuckers stadium is all but empty during home games. -------- FACT. 8. The stadium is ramshackled, obtuse in design, horribly ugly and chaotic in seating arrangement. The rumor is that there are architects and engineers lurking about the campus of the North Ave. Thumbsuckers school. ------- FACT 9. Georgia Thumbsuckers have an abysmal football program and a horrible record and a fan base that doesn't attend the games. ------- FACT Those are incontrovertible FACTS.

42 to 10. -------- FACT

So diehard Georgia Thumbsucker, you lose just like the losers from North Ave.

0

Sherwood_Eagle_Alum 1 year, 4 months ago

Fact 10. Georgia has 0 national titles in the last 30 years.

0

Amazed2 1 year, 4 months ago

Not too worried about some bricks the radical nut that goes by VSU is talking Mass Murder vs football. Guess VSU must have tendencies or crazy thoughts about guns and rampage and murder. Ashamed too I just thought he was a regular nut.

0

VSU 1 year, 4 months ago

Really? Seriously? You're the moron that was complaining about no real news happening today. I wish we had more days where football was the only news happening. We have enough bad news going around, but apparently you don't get that. Besides I was joking with you, did you not notice the smiling face? Or are you just one of those one tracked minded people that only sees what you want to see?

0

Sally_O 1 year, 4 months ago

WOW! Amazed2, what a jerk you are.

0

AlbanyIsTooDarkDuringTheDay 1 year, 4 months ago

The squawker has provEN that SEC fans are grammatically challenged.

It's funny how fans of SEC schools take credit for any and all SEC school national championships. If you are a Georgia fan, then don't take credit for the SEC winning 5 out of the last 6 national titles.

0

sad_for_albany 1 year, 4 months ago

It's nice to see some good ole school sports bashing for a change. That is what it is intended for, to take our minds off of the truly depressing stuff for a few moments.

2

Twosons 1 year, 4 months ago

Exactly, sad_for_albany. If the politicians would work toward fixing the government with this much enthusiasm, we would be out of debt in no time.

1

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

Georgia Thumbsucker, above your buddy effie asked you in response to your fairweather insult to UGA fans, " Have you paid any attention to the fans that show up in the Grant field stands for GT home games? What do you call those? Most folks call them "no shows." "

Why didn't you respond? Now let's revisit your dumba$$ remark: As a die hard GT fan, I have been through the good, the bad and the ugly, but I am still a fan. There are a lot of GA band wagon fans that went in the closet after the SC game and came out after the FLA game. I call them fair weather fans.

You fill kind of stupid don't you? He just eviscerated your DNA transporters to say nothing of your intellect.

I just read Effete's reply to your tortured remark and he fed you your innards. If you have enough IQ to understand it.

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 4 months ago

Should have been feel, bible schooler. Still licking your fingers after picking your nose?

0

Sherwood_Eagle_Alum 1 year, 4 months ago

Hook line and sinker...that was too easy.

Ironic when someone points out at another person is stupid or unintelligent, but makes a mistake when doing so.
