PELHAM -- Dorothy Inez McAfee Barry, 89, of Cordele, GA died Monday, November 26, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be held graveside on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Zion Hope Cemetery, Crisp Co., GA with Rev. Glenn Hobby officiating. Pallbearers include Barry Hickey, Ken Hickey, Randy Hickey, Ray Strickland, Phillip Walker, Mickey Dooley, Marvin McAfee, Jr.
Born on May 17, 1923 in Crisp Co., GA to the late Elzie Preston and Ethel Hobby McAfee, she was a retired bookkeeper for Bob's Candy Company and Barry Construction Company and charter member of Radium Springs Baptist Church of Albany where she was a G.A. leader and bible school teacher for many years. She was also a Brownie and Cub Scout leader
Preceded in death by her husband, Oris J. Barry; parents, Elzie Preston and Ethel Hobby McAfee; brothers, S. D. McAfee, Doster P. McAfee, Marvin T. McAfee, Sr., James Fuller McAfee; sisters, Erma Marilyn McAfee, Ola Belle McAfee
Survivors include daughters, Karen Hickey and husband, Gene, Sharen Hickey and husband, Derwood, all of Meigs, GA; a son, Rickey and Alice Barry of Arabi, GA; grandchildren, Ken and Tina Hickey, Randy and Bobbie Hickey, all of Meigs, GA, Angelia and Ray Strickland of Waycross, GA, Carrie and Brent Badeaux of Dumfries, VA, Barry Hickey, Jessica and Phillip Walker, all of Valdosta, GA; great grandchildren, Sommer Hickey, Brandon Hickey, Robby Hickey, all of Meigs, GA, Zachary Strickland of Waycross, GA, Kelsey Walker and Kailyn Walker, both of Valdosta, GA, Liam Badeaux of Dumfries, VA
The family is meeting at 218 Swift Creek Road, Cordele, GA (Lake Blackshear). A formal visitation will be held following the graveside services.
