ATLANTA — A new study projects that expanding Georgia's Medicaid health care program would cost the state about $2.5 billion over a decade while providing half a million uninsured Georgians with coverage.

The study, released Monday by the nonprofit Kaiser Family Foundation, estimates that more than $33 billion in new federal money would flood into Georgia over a 10-year period.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the study is the latest analysis of the cost of expanding Medicaid under the health law.

Nationwide, state leaders are debating whether to expand the program as they continue to struggle with huge budget shortfalls.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has said Georgia can't afford to expand the program, already facing a shortfall of hundreds of millions of dollars, even with the substantial federal help.

I don't see how Obamacare can really save taxpayers' money if you are going to expand the Medicaid pool. In the long-term this would mean more higher costs and less reimbursements to providers. Every person that I have spoken with in the medical field believes this aspect of the Obamacare plan will not save a dime.

I have to guess we each see in the medical programs, that which we want to see. Truth will only come with full impiimentation. By then it will be too late to turn back. If you will only speak with individuals that have been dealing with these Socialized Medical Programs you will at least have a real perspective to base it on. This perspective is completely different between those that formally had coverage, and those that didn't have any coverage. To one there is an agregiss loss, to the other it is an unforseen benefit.

Just where do you think the Federal Government plans to get this great abundance of Tax Dollars to funnel into Georgia. The source is either Raise your and my Taxes, Print more worthless US Federal Dollars or continue to trade special favors to China so they will continue to loan the Obama Administration Billions of Dollars$$$$$ more. They dont have to conquer the US Military they are making payments to own it out right.

$33 billion to insure a half million uninsured Gimmedats over 10 years is $66,000 per year per person. Of course each person will not get $66,000 worth of services most will be eaten up with fraud. Most will go to people for whom it was NOT intended, the very rich Gimmedats. In a nutshell, the reason people become Democrat. To get things from stupid people who work. The majority of the uber rich are democrat. They used to be called robber barons. People who take without giving anything back. These people are not going to lose a penny by taxing the rich. That $200,000 limit will drop dramatically. As dear leader says "we all have to sacrifice" . Didn't Stalin say that?

Uuuh, that is $6,600 per year per person. I keep losing my decimal points. I shouldn't do math in my head any more, but i stick by everything else.

The more free benefits a state give the less people want or care about working or education. According to another report today Georgia has the lowest graduation rate in the entire Southeast. Need I say more. Free breeds stupidity and makes people lazy.

Obamacare is smoke and mirrors. First of all, it AIN'T FREE. If you can' afford insurance, it will be provided for you and then the government WILL ATTACH YOUR INCOME TAX REFUND for reimbursement. Second, GET THE ILLEGALS OFF the medicaid rolls and the state would save billions a year. Third, start drug testing ALL recipients over the age of 12...those who test positive, REMOVE THEM FROM MEDICAID.
