ALBANY Opening statements in the case of Lorenzo Heard vs. the Dougherty County Board of Elections have been completed.
Heard filed suit against the board in an effort to have his name on the Nov. 6 election as an independent candidate for the at-large seat on the Dougherty County Board of Education.
Heard is represented by Maurice King. The county is represented by Ed Collier.
The first witness, Board of Elections Chairman Alan Pendleton, is being questioned at this time.
