Opening statements have concluded in Lorenzo Heard case

ALBANY — Opening statements in the case of Lorenzo Heard vs. the Dougherty County Board of Elections have been completed.

Heard filed suit against the board in an effort to have his name on the Nov. 6 election as an independent candidate for the at-large seat on the Dougherty County Board of Education.

Heard is represented by Maurice King. The county is represented by Ed Collier.

The first witness, Board of Elections Chairman Alan Pendleton, is being questioned at this time.

We all know what SHOULD happen, BUT this is Agony, Ga. so we all know what WILL happen. How this was even allowed to go to trial is baffling!

Ginger Nickerson and her entire staff should be dismissed summarily. What gross incompetence. Whether Heard wins his case or not the circumstances are clear that the elections office staff from top to bottom are dysfunctional professionally if not intellectually and are unable to serve in the capacity they serve. Every blasted one of them have retreated from the initial positions they claimed. This is not the first election they have botched.

I'm noticing a trend in Albany lately. Submit inaccurate paperwork (either deliberately or not, doesn't matter), blame undesired result on incompetent office staff, achieve desired result in court. Seems like there is a lack of attention to detail in both those submitting paperwork and those processing paper work. A nice round of accepting responsibility by all parties would be a nice change. But, that's not part of the strategy, and won't get the desired result.
