LAWRENCEVILLE -- Roselyn Emmaline Dagbehdee Cooper, formerly Sister Rose Brennan, C.S.B., Sunrise: December 31, 1945; Sunset: September 14, 2012.
The Eliseus Bernard Cooper Sr. and Nyonnohweyee Wrawreh Cooper family of the United States of America, and Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa respectively, is once again joined in grief, pride, and humble gratitude to God Almighty, to announce the peaceful home-going of our beloved daughter, mother sister, aunt, niece, cousin, relative, in-law, and friend-Roselyn Emmaline Dagbehdee Cooper-also known affectionately as "RC", Rose" "Sister Rose", in her 66th year, on Friday September 14, 2012, in Nashville, TN-USA.
Formerly Sister Rose Brennan, a nun with the congregation of St. Bernadine (C.S.B.), sisterhood of the Franciscan Sacred Heart Convent in Harper City, Cape Palmas, Maryland County, Liberia, where she began her career in education. She then attended Alvernia University in Reading, PA where she obtained a bachelors degree in math and reading education. Soon after college, she returned to Liberia where she was a teacher at the Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School, and in early to mid 1970s, served as Principal to St. Mary's School, Duala, Bushrod Island, and Cathedral High School, Ashmun & Nelson Strets respectively. She continued to be an educator in the United States in Albany, Georgia at Turner Job Corps for 15 years and in the Dougherty County School system at Southside Middle and Radium Middle schools. In addition, she was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and served as Sunday school teacher for some time.
Roselyn leaves to mourn her loss while cherishing her memories, a devoted and loving daughter, Madia Whillette Cooper; siblings, Bernice Cooper, Rev. Walter Cooper (Odette), Cassius B. Lawson Sr., Charlotte Cooper-Reffell; Margaret Cooper, Emmanuel Cooper, Joseph S. Cooper, Eliseus Bernard Cooper Jr. (Shannon), Pastor Claudius Cooper (Salome), Amanda Cooper Jackson (Chris), Maryann Baker, Cecelia Nyonnohtoe Wesley Moore, Christiana Doe Niamanney, Juah S.Doe, Emma C. Cooper, Anthony B. Cooper, David Jenkins Cooper, and Rev. Philip Nyemah; stepmother, Mrs. Comfort Hedou Cooper; aunts, Anne Myamie Cooper Marquis, Lucinda Barbara Cooper Gardiner and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives, friends and acquaintances, and former students in the United States and Liberia, West Africa.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Velicia Cooper (Feb. 2012), Henry Cooper (June 2003), Mary Cooper (June 1982) and brother-in-law, Jonathan Reffell.
There will be a Wake Keeping held Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 8:30-10:00 AM at Wages and Sons Funeral Home and Crematories Gwinnett Chapel in Lawrenceville, GA. The home going ceremony will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 10:00 AM with entombment to follow immediately after.
A Repast Reception will be held at Rhodes Jordan Community Center, 100 East Crogan Street, Lawrenceville, GA 30046
