ALBANY, Ga. -- Applications are currently being accepted for the winter session of the Albany Police Department’s popular Citizen’s Police Academy. Seats have filled up quickly for the past 26 sessions, so interested persons should plan on signing up early.
The 27th session is a shorter version with nine weeks of free two-hour sessions for those registered. The first class is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. and end 8:30 p.m. Oct. 16. The last meeting is scheduled for Dec. 18. Opportunities to learn about a variety of police-related topics abound. There will also be opportunities to ride along with an officer on patrol.
Pre-register at the city’s website, albany.ga.us, or pick up an application at the Law Enforcement Center front desk at 201 W. Oglethorpe Blvd. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information is available at the APD public relations office by calling (229) 483-6298.
