ALBANY, Ga. — On the run since Jan. 1, Cedric Demond Pittmon sat in the Dougherty County Jail Wednesday after carelessly crossing a street in Clayton County, according to reports.
The Albany Herald has featured Pittmon wearing an eyepatch like a pirate and sporting more than shoulder-length dreadlocks in a picture on its Most Wanted section many times. He didn’t have the patch or dreadlocks in his arrest photo.
“Pittmon was arrested there (Clayton County) for pedestrian in roadway, obstruction of an officer, misdemeanor, and giving a false name,” said Dougherty County Sheriff’s Lt. Shirley Adams in an email. “He was tased by a Clayton Police Department officer during the incident.”
No details on the use of the Taser or the arrest were immediately available from Clayton police.
While the Most Wanted section boasts a 52 percent arrest rate from tips residents call in to Crime Stoppers, Adams said this time it won’t be credited. Although Crime Stoppers had offered up to $1,000 for information leading to Pittmon’s arrest, no reward will be given. The arrest came from the actions of a patrolling Clayton officer.
“Many times an officer will stop someone on a lesser charge like a broken taillight or an expired license, only to have it lead to taking a criminal off the street for much more serious crimes,” Albany Police Department spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said.
Pittmon is charged with 14 crimes, including three aggravated assaults, aggravated stalking, possession of a firearm during a crime, cruelty to children and others, according to the jail automated information system.
According to Albany Police Department reports, Robyn Lashona Brown and two unarmed men were leaving an apartment at 303 Slater King Drive when Pittmon burst through the door of the apartment.
As Pittmon rushed in, he pulled a small black handgun and shot at the men, striking Brown in her left leg, police say. The wound was not life-threatening.
Brown was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment and released the same day.

Yo ho, yo ho, no more pirates life for him! Yeah, a false name like "black beard" will tie you in with the pirates every time. I guess he took off the patch when he switched from cable to satellite.

Blackbeard the real pirate used to put candles in his beard when he was partying. Maybe this guy could put some in his dredlocks at least for his next mugshot.

Let him wear the patch in prison and life will be pretty tough hopefully for a long time.
