Worth County fire ruled arson homicide, one arrested

SYLVESTER, Ga. — After ruling a fire that killed one man an arson homicide, authorities arrested Michael Carlisle, 31, and charged him with arson and murder, authorities here said. Carlisle is in the Worth County jail.

A handicapped man, 48-year-old Gregory Fulghum, died in the blaze after 6 a.m. on Fortune Street, according to Glenn Allen, spokesman for the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner's Office. A woman who lived with Fulghum, 64-year-old Betty Booth suffered burns and smoke inhalation. She was flown to Doctor's Hospital in Augusta for treatment.

No further information was immediately available.
