ALBANY, Ga. - An armed robbery suspect was captured by the Dougherty County Police Department early Monday afternoon, officials confirm.
Sgt. Chad Kirkpatrick with the DCPD told The Albany Herald that one of the department's investigators attempted to pull over a vehicle on North Slappey Boulevard when the vehicle tried to get away. The vehicle veered onto Fifth Avenue, then turned southward where the suspect jumped from the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.
The suspect, Sederrick Culbreth, ran from the officer and was eventually arrested. The chase ended in the vicinity of Fifth Avenue and North Harding Street, Kirkpatrick said.
Culbreth had six active warrants for probation violation, aggravated assault, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon/probationer, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Culbreth has appeared in the Albany Crime Stoppers Most Wanted. He is alleged to have been selling marijuana to 22-year-old Jacolvie Jarrod Curry behind the Pitt Stop on Sylvester Road on June 12.
Culbreth reportedly pulled a gun on Curry, and the two men got into a fight with a third unidentified man. During the fight, Culbreth was shot with his own gun. All three men ran from the area, and Culbreth showed up at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital with a relative while Curry called police from War Eagle Avenue, officials with DCPD said in June.
Police were still looking for the vehicle Monday following Culbreth's apprehension, which reportedly had at least one adult and one child inside.

Six warrants; his family will be on the news saying what fine up-standing citizen he is and how is being targeted by the police. But of course he will get bailed out and be back on the streets again.

Now that they got him, will they hang onto him? Reminds me of the little girl looking at the pictures in the Post Office Wanted Display. She asked what they were there for? The Clerk said those were people the Police were trying to arrest. The girl said "Why didn't you just keep them when you took the picture?"

Has anyone besides me noticed lately that the DCP are catchin more criminals in the city than the Albany PD ?? With all this talk of merging it looks like they need to TAKE OVER the PD rather than merging with the Sheriffs Dept.
