THOMASVILLE, Ga. — State Sen. John Bulloch is in good condition at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville after being hospitalized with meningitis, family members say.

Bulloch, R-Thomasville, was reportedly admitted to the intensive care unit at Archbold last week after getting ill and is improving. Archbold officials say that Bulloch is listed in good condition.

Bulloch, a farmer, was first sworn into the state senate in 2003 to represent District 11 and currently is the chairman of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee, the vice chair of the Natural Resources and the Environment Committee, a member on the Appropriations and Rules committees and an ex-officio member of the Banking and Financial Institutions Committee.

Attempts to reach Bulloch's offices in Atlanta and Thomas County for comment were unsuccessful Monday.
